MLK Day of Service: Outreach and Nourishment - Christian Caring Center

Volunteers will support Christian Caring Center’s expanded outreach operations in honor of Dr. King’s legacy. This opportunity directly serves vulnerable neighbors during the “Code Blue” winter season and includes a mix of pantry support, meal preparation, and community outreach.

Volunteers will help with:
• Filling food boxes, assisting clients, and restocking shelves
• Preparing and serving hot meals for the community lunch program and afternoon outreach
• Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining areas
• Loading outreach vehicles with meals, food boxes, and care packages
• Joining the outreach team to deliver items directly to two homeless encampments and two area hotels, offering encouragement and support

Important Notes for Volunteers:
This role involves direct engagement with homeless and shut-in neighbors. Volunteers should feel comfortable speaking with individuals and offering encouragement while handing out food and supplies. Please dress warmly, as part of the shift will take place outdoors during winter weather.

Christian Caring Center appreciates your support in helping embody Dr. King’s spirit of service through meaningful, hands-on volunteer work.
